Our story
Built by people who’ve kept the book
Pasture Tally began with a spiral notebook, then a Notes app on a phone. Both helped capture things in the moment, but neither made it easy to find a record later - or to see the full picture of what was happening with the herd.
Keeping everything current became frustrating. With a background in web development and a few years of hands-on cattle experience, Justin knew there had to be a better way: a simple tool built around the information producers actually need, when they need it.

Why we made it
A better way to keep track of a herd
Pasture Tally was built to make the day-to-day work of running cattle easier to see and manage.
Track where cattle are, where they’ve been, and where they’re headed next - so rotational grazing is easier to plan. Add a new calf to the herd without digging through notes. Keep an eye on feed inventory before winter, so you can plan with a clearer picture of what you have.
It’s a practical way to keep the details together and make better decisions from them.
From notebook to knowing
We run our own herd on Pierce Family Ranch, and along the way we also help care for a few head that belong to other owners. Either way, keeping accurate records is part of the responsibility.
Every treatment, weigh-in, breeding and move needs to land on the right animal’s record. Pasture Tally brings those details into one place, so our own herd stays organized - and when we do run cattle for other owners, we can hand them a clean per-owner statement at settle-up.
“Accurate records aren’t a convenience - they’re part of the responsibility.”
Pasture Tally is built by Justin and Cassandra Pierce of Pierce Family Ranch. We built it for our own herd first, and made sure it could keep the records straight for the cattle we run for other owners too.
It keeps the important details together - clear records, better planning, and a complete view of the operation.

What we believe
How we build Pasture Tally
Works where you work
The barn’s got no bars and the back forty’s a dead zone. If it doesn’t work offline, it doesn’t work.
Your data is yours
Your herd records belong to you - always exportable, never held hostage.
Plainspoken, not techy
Real ranch language and simple, easy-to-use tools - so you can spend less time figuring out an app and more time caring for your cattle.
