Getting started
Do I need to be tech-savvy to use it?
No. If you can text and use a weather app, you can use Pasture Tally. Everything is plain ranch language, the buttons are big, and there’s a sample herd you can poke around in before you touch your own records.
I’ve kept paper records for years. Is switching a pain?
You don’t have to move everything at once. Add animals as you work them, or start fresh this season. You can bulk-import your existing herd from a spreadsheet - or send us your file and we’ll set it up for you.
Can I bring my herd over from a spreadsheet or another app?
Yes. Export your animals to a CSV and import them straight in - you match your columns to ours and it brings them across, skipping any duplicate tags. Rather not fuss with it? Send us your file and we’ll load it for you.
What does it run on?
Any modern phone or tablet - iPhone, Android, an old iPad in the truck. It runs in the browser, so there’s nothing to download from an app store. You can add it to your home screen and it opens like a normal app.
Out in the field
Do I need internet or cell signal?
No. Pasture Tally is offline-first - you can add and edit every record with zero signal. When you get back in range it syncs automatically. The dead zone at the back forty is exactly what it’s built for.
Is there anything to install?
Nothing from an app store. It runs in your phone’s browser and you can “Add to Home Screen” so it opens full-screen like any other app.
Does it work for sheep and goats too?
Yes. Set your species and the app speaks the right language - Pasture Tally runs any grazing operation, cattle, sheep or goats.
Your data & privacy
Who owns my data?
You do. Your herd records are yours - we don’t sell them, and we don’t share them. You’re just renting the tool that keeps them tidy.
Can I get my data out if I ever leave?
Anytime. Export a complete backup and a CSV of your herd whenever you want. Nothing is locked in.
Is my operation’s information secure?
Your records live on your device and in your private, encrypted account. Only you can see them.

How much does it cost?
Plans are priced by herd size - from a Starter plan for small outfits up to Enterprise for large and multi-ranch operations. Every plan includes the whole app. See the pricing page for the current tiers.
Is there a free trial? Do you need my card?
Yes to the trial, no to the card. Start a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. When it ends, you get a short grace period, then simply choose a plan to keep going - nothing is ever charged automatically, and your records stay safe either way. Cancel anytime.
Can I track cattle I run for other people?
Yes. If you run cattle for other people, you can tag animals to their owner and pull a per-owner statement at settle-up.
How do I cancel?
Anytime, right from your account. Plans are month-to-month with no contract and no cancellation fee - and you can export your data on the way out.
